Місце та функції параметричних прикметників у дефініціях англомовних словників

Abstract

У статті розглядаються принципи використання параметричних прикметників large, small, long, short у словникових дефініціях Collins English Dictionary та Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Показано, що ці прикметники маркують оцінки розмірів певних об’єктів, подані авторами словників, і тому можуть розглядатися як вияв антропоцентризму. This article addresses the principles of usage of parametric adjectives large, small, long, short in the definitions of Collins English Dictionary and Merriam-Webster Dictionary. It is shown that these adjectives mark the estimations of sizes of different objects, given by the authors of the dictionaries; thus they may be considered as manifestation of anthropocentrism.
