Метафоричні кореляції концепту Життя в образному просторі художніх текстів О’Генрі та Дж. Джойса

Abstract

Дослідження спрямоване на виявлення лінгвокогнітивних механізмів концептуалізації образного просто-ру художніх текстів О’Генрі та Дж. Джойса. Особливу увагу приділено опису шляхів трансформації царини джерела концептуальних метафор, об’єднаних спільним референтом –концептом ЖИТТЯ. У статті запропо-новано методику виведення формально-логічних та ймовірно-індуктивних корелятів концепту ЖИТТЯ через інференційний аналіз смислів, вилучених за допомогою лінгвокогнітивних операцій (конкретизації, спеціалі-зації, модифікації) та процедур (розширення, узагальнення, зіткнення, компресії), і декодування інформації, ускладненої додатковими імлікаціямиThe article focuses on the revealing of linguistic and cognitive mechanisms of image space conceptualization in texts of O. Henry and J. Joyce. In the framework of cognitive linguistics we discuss different kinds of cognitive operations, which enable the process of conceptualization of knowledge, objectified in verbal images. The article highlights the linguistic and cognitive mechanisms of source domain transformation in the range of conceptual metaphors, incorporated with a common target domain –concept LIFE. Such cognitive operations as concretization, specialization, modification and procedures of expansion, generalization, confrontation, compression illuminate the ways of a new meaning formation in a verbal image. The interpretation ofverbal images in the frame of macro-and megacontexts enables the revealing of information, sophisticated with additional implications, by means of conceptual, stylistic, text-interpreting analyses and the decoding of the deictic and referential elements’meaning. The inferential analysis of senses, defined with the help of operations, procedures and analyses, mentioned above, enables the deducing of formal logical and probable inductive correlates of concept LIFE.
