Abstract
The chapter explores innovative management approaches to agricultural land restoration in the context of war-related destruction and climate-induced degradation in Ukraine. It substantiates the potential of public–private partnership (PPP) mechanisms as an effective tool for accelerating land recovery, combining public oversight and financing with private innovation, technology, and investment. Drawing on sustainable land management theory, risk-sharing models, and international experience - from Brazil’s forest restoration concessions to Africa’s Great Green Wall - the study develops a comprehensive PPP process model for post-war land rehabilitation. The proposed framework integrates institutional, financial, and technological innovation, including blended finance instruments, micro-PPPs at the community level, and the application of digital tools (GIS, remote sensing, and carbon finance). Special attention is given to Ukraine’s recovery strategies, legislative frameworks, and pilot initiatives aimed at demining, soil remediation, and irrigation modernization. The research concludes that well-designed PPPs can transform land restoration into a driver of sustainable and inclusive rural development, enhance climate resilience, and contribute to the long-term food and environmental security of Ukraine.
