Abstract

У статті подано аналіз висвітлення діяльності товариства «Просвіта» на сторінках енциклопедичних та довідкових видань. Зроблено спробу продемонструвати переваги й окреслити перспективи присутності цієї теми в подібного типу літературі. Відстежено особливості та відмінності подання інформації про «Просвіту» залежно від часу публікації енциклопедичного видання.The article analyzes the coverage of the society «Enlightenment» in the encyclopedic tradition on the example of individual projects. It showed the socio-political context of the information society in the three-volume «General Ukrainian Encyclopedia» (Lviv; Kolomiya, 1930-1935) and encyclopedia authored by Eugene Onatsky «Ukrainian small encyclopedia». Particular attention is paid to the emigratory-diasporic «Encyclopedia of Ukrainistics» V. Kubiiovych. where posted detailed information about the development of «Prosvit» on the territory of Ukraine and abroad. It is emphasized that the publication of the general part of the «Ukrainistics Encyclopedia» and the release of the first volume of the dictionary of the «EC» gave a powerful impetus to the deployment in the USSR working on its Marxist-Leninist encyclopedic alternative - «Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia» in 17 volumes («SSE-З»), in which the authors were not able to bypass the attention of society, «Enlightenment».
