Abstract

This article shows how the cross-border diffusion of phenomena and views about the Spanish Civil War and the Franco’s dictatorship period has affected the image of the country on the international arena. The text also presents a reflection about if the politics of memory in Spain could shape the historical consciousness of the societies of other countries. Moreover, the article describes why the countries at the beginning of XXI century were interested in issues of historical memory.
